May 20 - Free US Coast Guard Auxiliary Vessel Safety Checks

Let's get together and kick off National Safe Boating Week right by making sure your boat is in its best and safest condition! Come out to Leading Edge Marine and get your boat its FREE Vessel Safety Check and Decal (if you pass your Vessel Safety Check). There will be FREE food and drinks!

Vessel Safety Checks (VSCs) are open to all boaters, and are designed to determine if your boat is ready for a safe season of boating. These FREE checks are for boater benefit only, as no citations are given. A VSC only takes about 15-20 minutes.

The United States Coast Guard (USCG) Auxiliary volunteers will be at Leading Edge Marine to check all required paperwork and safety equipment (per federal and state laws), such as: your boat registration certificate and registration decal, personal flotation devices (lifejackets), Type IV flotation aids, fire extinguisher, horn or whistle, day and nighttime visual distress signals (flares), navigation lights, along with discussion to help each boater have a safe and enjoyable boating season.

If you are missing something, don’t fret, they will let you know what you are missing and all you need to do is call them when you fix or replace the issue. You can still get your VSC Decal later. This is a FREE service provided by and funded by the United States Coast Guard to encourage boater safety and awareness to the public - it is a win for everyone.

The USCG Auxiliary is made up of volunteers who serve the country as civilians on behalf of the United States Coast Guard. Each Auxiliary spends time training and qualifying for the service they provide in accordance with the United Stated Coast Guard and USCG Auxiliary requirements. They are not paid for their service and are truly volunteers serving the communities we live in.
